Let’s talk about it! – June 2003

Let me shout out the issue SEX, ok not really sex actually, more like the craving for it. As Christians, we are meant to keep our body pure and holy. After all it is a temple of the living God, and whether you want to hear it or not. Once you have chosen God (born-again), you have to abstain from pre-marital sex or sex outside marriage. However, easier said than done, right?

There are born-again Christians out there who have sex and that may not necessarily make them any less born-again, if it’s something they are struggling with. What could definitely disqualify them is, if they are totally disregarding the law of God, the bible say’s “what shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?” Rom 6:1-2.

How do we deal with this cravings/desires then? The first thing is to speak to God about it, once we have taken that first big step then we are no longer living in denial. One big fact is, God can only help us if he has a willing heart to work with. However, if you do not have a willing heart for him to work with, where do you expect him to start from? From the sheets? Hmmm!

The next step is to talk to a fellow pal in the Lord, you’ll be surprised that you are not the only one with this type of struggles. There is something about sharing these feelings with someone else, it’s like standing up to the devil and telling him you know what he is playing at, however you are not going to be his victim. Sharing what you are going through with a friend will help you face up to the situation and deal with it, you become more accountable for your actions; knowing there is someone out there watching your back, really helps.

And remember that the pleasure you get out of a bit of a ‘rumble and tumble’ between the sheets is only temporary, and after the ‘rumble and tumble’ is over, if the spirit truly lives in you, you will feel guilty and upset with yourself for succumbing (guaranteed).

He that has an ear let him hear what the spirit of the Lord is saying, ” submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 Selah
