A Fair Treatment? – Reflections of July 06
I’ve done it myself, and I’ve seen others do it, but it was seeing a friend do it recently that got me thinking; the way we treat waiters, shop assistants etc.! Do to others, as you would have others do unto you … a popular saying.
But really, how many of us practice it? We might think we do, but really let’s take a moment to reflect.
Nobody likes to be treated unfairly or harshly, but how do we treat those in lesser positions than us? It is so easy to treat those above us with respect; exercise patience with them; hold our tongues when there is something unpleasant we would rather be saying or doing. But yet, we do not think twice about according the same courtesy to those supposedly lesser than us.
I’m not going to try and justify any of my unsavoury actions in the past about whether or not the recipient deserved it. The fact remains that every human being deserves to be treated with respect regardless of their supposed status. And our inability as individuals to exhibit humility and show respect to all, says something about real person we are when all guards are down. Who are you really?
